  • I sold a Dodge Journey on March 19, 2026 through Manheim Georgia on OVE. The car was sold to a dealer in Buffalo, NY. Long story short, they arbitrate a perfectly good vehicle for bad engine, transmission, etc. One Guard comes out to the dealer’s location and of course, destroys the car. Needless to say, I get hung with a $1350 transport bill, and a $1000 bill BACK to Georgia. Of course, I get the car back and THERE ISN’T A THING WRONG WITH IT. The dealer provided what I’m sure was a bogus transport bill to NY from Georgia and decided to make a few $$$ on that deal. This is a typical example where a seller gets shafted when a vehicle sells to an out of state buyer. In fact, the arbitrator said this is commonplace and there isn’t anything the seller or the auction can do about it. One other thing- we were told that if a seller pays for a post-sale inspection (to protect themselves against an issue like this), the seller guarantees the vehicle, with no exception- past the 10 or 14 days. In essence, there is no feasible way for a seller to protect themselves against this practice.
